Sam Prekop has been making solo modular synthesizer records since 2010. Establishing himself as an electronic music composer, he has been building his instrument meticulously to find the perfect combination of oscillators, sequencers, and filters to create a system that allows him to create sounds that are both surprising and warmly inviting. As a member of The Sea and Cake, Prekop has collaborated with Archer Prewitt and John McEntire in the full band format, as well as in separate duo projects.
Unlike Prekop and Prewitt’s duo project, this current incarnation is entirely improvisational and electronic: McEntire is performing exclusively on triggered electronic drums and sophisticated beat making machines. This project is informed by their previous work together, and serves as inspiration for future projects to come.
Sam Prekop is the singer and guitarist of The Sea and Cake.
John McEntire is a drummer/percussionist and multi-instrumentalist in bands Tortoise and The Sea and Cake.
