Long Island-based Bayside developed their own style based on soaring vocals, powerful guitar work and brooding lyrics from influences as diverse as The Smiths, the Smoking Popes, and Nirvana, to the Cure, Stevie Wonder and Nick Drake. "Sirens and Condolences" picks up where Smoking Pope's "Destination Failure" and Jawbreaker's "Dear You" left off, a new entry in the field of melodic rock with a dangerous edge that is sure to attain the status of a classic.
